Travelling along the high valley of the Ombrone, the meandering of the river marks the end of the deep gullies and the start of great stretches of cultivated land. Here the fields offer a spectacular display of colour which mutates according to the changing of the seasons; the intense green of the spring gradually transforming with the arrival of the hot summer months, a time when the landscape is tinged a magnificent golden yellow.
Here and there small patches of woodland frame the gentle Tuscan hills as they descend towards the valley, woodland which provides the ideal habitat for numerous species of animal and birdlife.
The crow of the pheasants and the barking of the deer are the only sounds to break the silence pervading a territory modelled by nature.
